What are the differences between Kyokushin, Shotokan and Okinawan Karate styles?

I%26#039;m just looking for basic differences between the three styles since I really don%26#039;t know much about them.

If someone were to show me three different fighters, each trained in one of the styles, I wouldn%26#039;t be able to tell you who practiced which styles.

What are the things to look for?|||it%26#039;s more then 3 styles okinawan karate consists of several styles

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_...

in a nut shell

kyokushin is a combination of goju ryu and shotokan. it is a full contact mid to short range style and is more of a hard style

shotokan is a combination of shorin ryu and shuri ryu and is a long to mid range style, is both hard and soft

shito ryu is an combination or shorin ryu and naha te and is a mid to short range system, is both hard and soft

goju ryu is a short range system and also a soft style

wado ryu is an off-shoot of shotokan is a short range system and a soft style

the best way to identify them would be to study the way the practitioners move. (youtube videos or tournaments)|||you will find that within the styles of karate (which you have missed a few) they will have similar but different kata%26#039;s. Their use of hard and soft, the things they do, for example in my style we dont do board breaking where as in other karate styles they do. There are many different aspects in the styles|||Okinawan Karate is NOT a style of karate. It is the Original Art of Karate.

Kyokushin and Shotokan are Japanese styles of karate which are more sports oriented.
