How do I measure my waist for the correct fitting karate obi (belt)?

I think the questions says it all. I need to measure for a karate belt.|||the belt usually needs to go around your waist twice and two pieces of equal length hang down 6 to 10 inches plus the knot.

So 2xwaist + 2x8 should give you a good lenght

assuming a waist of 32 inches (mine) that is

32+32+8+8=80 inches

check out some picture of people wearing karate belts to see how they fit ie. how many times they wrap, and roughly how much hangs in front

This is based on a Jistu belt I assume that karate belts also wrap around twice|||Usually the size uniform you have is the size belt you need. Plus a belt usually comes with a traditional white uniform from Century Martial Arts Supply.|||with a tape measure
