I am overweight and want to start practicing shotokan karate again. Recommend exercise regime to help me start

I practiced Shotokan for 10 years, then stopped. I have gotten very over weight and I want to get back to actively practicing Shotokan. Does anyone have a exercise regime (cardio and strength) with specific exercises that can help me get back into shape and strengthen the key parts of my body so that I can get back to the dojo.|||Consult your doctor and sense about what the best way for you to get back into the sport. If not, just watch a bunch fo Chuck Norris movies and you should be all set.|||You should just get right back into it. The class is excerting enough. If you want to supplement your training then I suggest walking since you said your very over weight. Running would be very hard on your joints with the extra weight. You should carefully watch your eatting habits as well. You can also try bike riding to further improve your cardio and weight loss. To see progress you must be diligent and consistant with it. At least 3 to 4 times a week no less than 30 mintues a day. Becareful not to over do it at first.|||Pick up your training again and eat right. Work hard, train hard, and keep your dream in sight.|||You should check out Barry Eisler%26#039;s site. He%26#039;s the author of the Rain series and I think he%26#039;s a black belt in that sort of karate....though I could be mistaken. In any case there%26#039;s a video of exercises that John Rain does in his books (and that Eisler does himself) to help him stay in shapre on the road.
