What is the best style of karate?

I am a 20 year old girl and have practiced karate kanzenryu for about 8 months. Now I want to switch. Please suggest a style which you think is the best both for a combat situation and health of body and mind.|||The older Okinawan styles of karate have the %26#039;purest%26#039; technique and are far less sport oriented than the normal Japanese styles.

Styles such as Goju, Shorin, Isshin Ryu%26#039;s or Shorei are superb for what you are asking but aren%26#039;t as attractive as the likes of Shotokan, Wado Ryu, Shuko-kai, Shito-Ryu or other such styles. Personally, based on what you are asking, I%26#039;d suggest something like a Kenpo style or Okinawan. If you are hardcore then something like Kyokushinkai would be an option.|||For aggressiveness and raw power shoto kan

More street wise goju ryu or shto ryu motobu ha|||Goju-Ryu it is a dying system because it is a hard system and most want the easy way to everything.Shorie Goju is also a Hard system. If you want to be tough and learn a system that is 2000 years old and rough on you but very effective take one of these.I will fight any so called Black Belt in any style and defeat them viscously and quickly, also on their terms.|||I take TKD not Karate but i have seen some different styles of Karate and my fav. is Kyoukushin Karate then comes Shotokan Karate.|||there is no best art, only best artists. the quality and frequency of the training will far outweigh the style being trained in.

find a good school, not a good style.

check out all the schools in your area, take free classes.

ask to see their contact drills.

never sign a contract. never pay for rank testing.

look for a clean school with respectable people|||Shotokan Karate is the most evasive of the 3 styles... And Lyoto Machida (an undefeated fighter in the UFC) uses this as his stand up technique...|||i take shito ryu kenbu-kai. lots of fun. you%26#039;ll enjoy it.|||It%26#039;s really a personal choice. I am a black belt in the United Fighting Arts Federation (UFAF) and find this meets all of my needs.
