How do I cancel my 1 year karate class?

I joined a karate class in may and I;ve come to realize that its not something that I can see myself doing for the longterm.

Will Karate associations let you cancel your agreement?|||It%26#039;s possible that they would let you transfer the contract to another family member, but they won%26#039;t just say %26quot;ok, see ya%26quot;.

When you signed the contract, you agreed to pay for one year, regardless of your attendance.

You just started in May, you%26#039;ve given it 3 months. It may not be a long term thing for you, but you may as well keep going. There are certainly health benefits for you to continue.

At the time, you made a commitment to the school, and a commitment to yourself. Why not honor your commitment and don%26#039;t quit so easily.

You can%26#039;t expect to be an expert or even be good after 3 months, give it time and DONT QUIT ON YOURSELF!

James|||If you signed a contract you can only cancel it by mutual consent of both parties (you and the school.)

re: That Guy%26#039;s post -- False claims to weasel your way out of a contract would make you liable to charges of fraud.

You agreed to pay money.

The school agreed to have classes that you can attend.

Whether or not you attend those classes is irrelevant -- you agreed to pay.

About the only way to get out is if the school stops holding classes.|||not if you signed a contract, no.

You%26#039;ll have to keep paying until your contract expires regardless of whether or not you%26#039;re going to be going to the classes.

There are few circumstances in which the contract can be broken ( death, moving a certain distance away, etc.)

I believe there%26#039;s also a way of buying your way out of the contract...but it can be just as expensive as the tuition for the year.|||Read the contract. There should be a buy-out clause where you pay to end the contract legally. However, this buy-out fee is most likely going to be your yearly tuition anyways.

Martial arts schools + contracts = no fighting skills and no money.|||Some do, most don%26#039;t. That is why I tell people to NEVER sign a contract and do month-to-month. I%26#039;ve been doing month-to-month for almost 5 years. Then again, my school doesn%26#039;t do contracts because they don%26#039;t want to appear shady.|||There are many different karate associations. Mine did, others differ.|||I%26#039;m no lawyer, bu i said i had health problems xD Techincally i DID (thyroid, asthma, kidney stones [OUCHIES] LOL) But they let us off the contract...i think|||normally you cant cancel it you just have to keep paying.
